Day 1 Wrap-Up | AI.DEAS for Impact 2025 Hackathon

Day 1 of AI.DEAS for Impact 2025 was buzzing with excitement and fresh ideas. Students, mentors, and industry experts came together to kick off an inspiring journey into how Artificial Intelligence can be used for social good. With support from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP), the event created the perfect space for learning, collaboration, and meaningful innovation.

The day began with a warm welcome over coffee, followed by opening preliminaries and a roll call of participants. The Welcome Remarks and Message of Support emphasized the importance of ethical and inclusive AI development, especially in regions beyond Metro Manila.

This session provided a comprehensive overview of the current AI landscape in the country, highlighting both opportunities and challenges. Speakers discussed the evolving role of AI in governance, education, and disaster response, setting the tone for the hackathonโ€™s mission.

๐Ÿ’ก Plenary Learning Session 1: AI for Social Good

A powerful session that showcased real-world applications of AI in addressing societal issuesโ€”from healthcare and agriculture to disaster resilience. The speakers inspired participants to think beyond code and consider the human impact of their solutions.

๐Ÿง  Plenary Learning Session 2: Technology Commercialization & Intellectual Property Rights

This session tackled the practical side of innovationโ€”how to protect, scale, and commercialize AI solutions. It was a valuable primer for students aiming to turn their ideas into sustainable ventures.

The afternoon was all about action. Teams dove into Hackathon Round 1, presenting their project summaries for flash critiquing. This was followed by Rounds 2 and 3, where teams refined their ideas through validation, testing, and improvement.
